Have you ever

Published by B under Sari-sari

… thought about doing stuff that you wouldn’t normally do? One thing I’m thinking of is dressing a little sexier. Lol! You know, like wearing a set of fine lingerie. No one but myself could see it anyway. Or shaving my head… I don’t have a job anyway that would require me to have a normal hairstyle. And besides, it’s really hot these days. I remember I have s list of things that I want to do if I could have unlimited resources. Maybe I should check that list again and update it. The purpose of that list is to remind me of my dreams and to motivate me to achieve them one by one without really realizing it. I got the idea from a book that my friend “forced” me to read and it’s really helpful and I think that it’s really a fine concept. I’ll go over that list and update it and I’ll share it here one day. I’ll even include those that I’ve achieved already (as if there’s a lot! Lol!).

I’ve been sick

Published by B under Sari-sari

… these past few weeks. I think I have anemia. I look pale. My friend, who’s a physical therapist, said I might have anemia. She looked at the inside of my eyelids and it’s really very pale, my lips are pale, and when she pressed my fingertips it didn’t change color meaning that I’m really pale. And I’ve noticed that very little activities make my heart beat faster and stronger and I sometimes even get dizzy. I started drinking iron supplement already and I’m feeling much better now… no more palpitations and no more dizziness. I’m thinking about looking for a life insurance quote that’s not too heavy on the pocket. See, I’m single and I should really start thinking about my future now. I really can’t rely on my parents now since they’re both not getting any younger and my sister has her own family to think about. And I really don’t want to rely on my relatives either. And maybe it’s about time I should start living a healthier lifestyle…

Birthdays

Published by B under Sari-sari

It’s already February and it’s a month of birthdays in our family. First is my nephew’s birthday on the 3rd, then my cousin’s wife on the 15th, mine on the 21st, my sister’s on th 25th and my uncle on the 26th. And I also have about 5 friends who will be celebrating their birthdays this month also. I wish my cousins from the States would give me Barnes and Noble coupons as a birthday gift. I’d really love to buy more books which I don’t do often anymore due to the lack of budget. Lol! I would also to buy some DVDs of my favorite movies and of course more scrap stuff! I also want to have an all-in-one printer and scanner, but this one I’ll just buy myself. I really need to update my techie stuff, they’re all outdated and dirty. Money, money, money… gimme more money!!! Lol!

Wishful Thinking

Published by B under Sari-sari

If I had a good paying stable job right now, what I would do is get my self a travel insurance and go out of the country at least once every two years. But I don’t have a stable job and right now I don’t even have a travel buddy. My guy best friend, who used to be my travel buddy, is in Kansas right now for a 2-year scholarship. And he is quite busy right now with his organization and his brand new girlfriend. I’m not really an expensive traveler. I like to travel “lonely planet” style, cheap and practical so I could explore more. But with my income right now as a freelancer, I think still manage to travel every now and then, not as often I want to, but I believe I can. I just have to get used to traveling alone and I might to begin traveling around the country first. But I really want to buy a camera first before I start traveling around. It’s very easy to plan isn’t it? But very hard to make it all come true. Good luck me! :)

Featured Movie: Somewhere in Time

Published by B under Sari-sari

Starring: Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour

The Story:
Christopher Reeve got away from Superman and related costume roles in this dramatic fantasy film, adapted from Richard Matheson’s 1960s vintage novel Bid Time Return. A young playwright, Richard Collier (Reeve), is approached by an elderly woman on the occasion of his first triumph in 1972 — all she says to him is “Come back to me” and leaves him with a watch that contains a picture of a ravishing young woman. Eight years later, he visits the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island and comes upon a photograph of the same woman, whom he discovers was an actress who made an appearance at the hotel in 1912. He becomes obsessed with the image and what the woman — who died the night she approached him in 1972 — meant by what she said. In a manner somewhat reminiscent of the film Laura, he falls in love with her and her image as he learns more about her life and career. Then he comes upon the suggestion of a professor at his former college that time travel may, in fact, be possible, using an extreme form of self-hypnosis to free the person from the place they occupy in the time-stream. Collier’s feelings for the woman are so strong that he succeeds, bringing himself back to the hotel in 1912 on the eve of her triumph. He meets the actress, Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour), and the two fall in love despite the machinations of her obsessive, autocratic manager (Christopher Plummer), who feels threatened by Collier’s presence.

Favorite line from the movie:
Elise McKenna: The man of my dreams has almost faded now. The one I have created in my mind. The sort of man each woman dreams of, in the deepest and most secret reaches of her heart. I can almost see him now before me. What would I say to him if he were really here? “Forgive me. I have never known this feeling. I have lived without it all my life. Is it any wonder, then, I failed to recognise you? You, who brought it to me for the first time. Is there any way that I can tell you how my life has changed? Any way at all to let you know what sweetness you have given me? There is so much to say. I cannot find the words. Except for these: I love you”. Such would I say to him if he were really here.

I’ve loved Somewhere in Time since I was a kid. I just love the story and used to imagine how that part of time actually never ends because it’ll keep repeating over and over and over again. LOL! And I love everything about the movie, the actors, the old dresses, the soundtrack, the music box, even the pocket watch. I remember, my Tito knew how much I loved the movie and he bought me a smaller pocket watch which can be used as a pendant when he went to London one time. Unfortunately, it got broken but he bought me a new one again. I really loved that watch. Also, this movie made me wonder if we could really travel back in time. Would it be amazing if we could do that? But I’m pretty sure it would be chaotic. The movie is a classic and the soundtrack is surely not to be missed also. I remember I owned the movie in betamax tape, in vhs tape, and in vcd format. I haven’t bought a dvd of the movie yet but I will one of these days.

Getting Crafty

Published by B under Sari-sari

Are you crafty? I am… a little. I love beads and I used to make beaded jewelries like bracelets, earrings, pendants, necklaces and anklets. I’m also into digital scrapbooking, which I’m very much hooked into. But what I’d really like to try is hybrid scrapbooking projects. But to do that then I’ll be needing lots of supplies like papers, embellishments, glue, box cutters, paper cutters, a good printer, plus lots more stuff. And scrapbooking products here in the Philippines are pretty expensive (compared to digital scrapbooking) and very limited. But I’m still going to try it. Maybe I’ll start with something small that doesn’t need much supplies like a small album, cards, invitations, altoids tin albums. I can even have my niece and nephew involved in the projects, I’m sure it’s going to be lots of fun.

My BIL is Back!

Published by B under Sari-sari

My brother-in-law is back! Actually, it’s already been awhile… he got back first week of January. And he brought home a new wireless phone, I’m so happy! We already have 3 wireless phone and 1 base unit installed around the house but some of the wireless units are already old and it’s really very hard to press the numbers. I even sometimes feel like throwing the phone… yes, it’s that hard. So what I do is I dial first on the base unit and then when the other line starts ringing, I would shift into the wireless unit. Lol! But now I don’t have to do that anymore because we’ve got a new phone! Yipee! So now we have 4 wireless units and 1 base phone. Mind you, we don’t have a big house, it’s just that we’re really that lazy. Lol! It’s like having small business phone systems minus all the fancy stuff that business phones can do. :)

New Watch

Published by B under Sari-sari

I really want to buy a new watch and I need one cause I’ve noticed that I’ve depended on my phone when it’s time to tell time when I’m outside the house. I’d love one of those expensive brands like Franck Muller or Rolex, or Bulgari, but of course I couldn’t afford those. Maybe I’ll save up for something sporty like Tag Heuer or Technomarine which I can still wear when I’m out on a trip to the beach or an outdoor activity. I used to have a Tag Heuer and I had the battery changed at an unofficial Tag watch center and it leaked. I have to get it fixed and totally forgot about it. I don’t even know where it is now and I miss it. It’s been with me through a lot of my trip already. If I find it, maybe I’ll keep it just for old time’s sake.

After 3 Long Years

Published by B under Sari-sari

… my best friend and I saw each other again! Jing finally got home for a two-week vacation after 3 long years. She still looks the same, except for a few pounds, but who hasn’t gained weight? LOL! Jing was wearing a blouse and pants that looked like maternity clothes, but it didn’t make her look pregnant, it in fact looked pretty cute on her. We ate dinner at Balsa in Malabon with Che. We had grilled Tuna belly, then another fish with gravy on a hot plate, and of course Sisig and garlic rice. I missed eating together with them! Then we just stayed there and exchanged stories about what’s going on with our lives over a couple bottles of beer and cigarettes. Then we dropped by Che’s place on our way home and had a small chit-chat with her mom, reminiscing about our high school days. After that, we dropped off Jing at her place and then Che dropped me off. I really miss this and I’m looking forward to our next get-together. Hopefully, this time, Deb will be able to join us

Bicutan

Published by B under Sari-sari

We spent the night in Bicutan first before going to Tagaytay, in Che and Deb’s place. I missed their place! They live there alone so we can practically do anything there. It was like heaven! We can smoke inside the house while sipping coffee! I missed their espresso machines! Yes, they have two already. One was the old one which they bought and the other was given by Che’s client. They now have a househelp so the house is cleaner and she cooked our dinner that night. And Che also bought Magic Sing (videoke microphone) so we all sang after dinner till we all were too sleepy. Too bad Armin didn’t make it, he said he is now hooked on videokes. Haha! Can’t imagine him singing… well, maybe next time.
